Abstract: On the basis of the observed data of surface heat balance and conventional climatic data from 1961 to 1965 in Shanghai, the diurnal, monthly and annual variations of various heat balance elements are analyzed, respectively. The results illustrate that the latent heat is dominant in the process of land surface heat balance in the moist climate regions of China
