Abstract: A portable shared memory parallel application program interface (API) OpenMP is introduced. By conducting parallel experiments on a shallow water model and a nested finemesh model over the complex topography, its feasibility for the parallelization of meteorological forecasting models discussed with comparison to Message Passing Interface (MPI).
