The relationship was investigated between the torrential rain in the mid and lower reaches of the Changjiang River in summer 1998 and the thermal abnormality of the Tibetan Plateau in spring 1998. The statistics show that the 3-D thermal structure of 1998 with positive abnormality in the southern part and negative abnormality in the northern part is Just like that of 1991 and 1993 which are flood years.
